From the pinned post, we have deduced who is part of the first resurrection in 1 Thess 4:16-17 and that includes the survivors of the Great Tribulation (Rev 7:14); these are the chosen ones and most can agree on that and that they have to be blameless (because Rev 14 says so about the 144K, that Eph 5:27 says the church will be presented without spot and blemish and Titus 1:6-7 says elders must be blameless). Jesus said something about His church in Matt 16:18 that the gates of Hades will not prevail. We also know that the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ hasn’t happened yet and there is a 1000 year period before Satan is released to deceive the nations. We also know that the Holy City comes down at that time and those outside of it deceived are engulfed by fire (Rev 20:8-9). We also know the final judgment is in Rev 20:12-15. The final chapter is Rev 21:27 about only those in the Lamb’s book of life being allowed in the Holy City and that the new heaven and earth happens at this time. Take time to read Matt 24, Daniel 12 and Revelation along with the chain of events in 2 Peter 3:6-13.
There is an “hour of judgment” in Rev 14:7. Mathematically, that is 41 years and 8 months. A certain religion predicted “Armageddon” (which they consider the destruction of the system and the wicked in 2 Peter 3:10) would happen in 1975. If we think about the fact that TV evangelists were exposed for wrongdoing (Rex Humbard and Jimmy Swaggart being exposed for vices and Jim Bakker going to prison), Catholic priests being exposed for pedophilia, one religion being exposed for not reporting child molestation, and yet others having a division (or losing members left and right), plus what is going on in the world, we wonder that the 2nd coming is imminent.
The events of the world seem to coincide with the opening of the seals. Babylon has yet to fall (Rev 14:8). The rest of Revelation 14 seems to indicate that some remain to come to Jesus. Could that be those that might survive God’s Wrath at the 2nd coming but are given a 2nd chance to come to Jesus before Satan is released.
Those with the mark of the beast are tormented forever according to Rev 14:10-11; Rev 19:20 says the beast, false prophets and those with the mark of the beast are thrown in the lake of fire . Satan is thrown into the lake of fire in Rev 20:10 and the false prophets (along with those that have the mark of the beast) are already there. In Rev 20:14, death and Hades are cast in the lake of fire after the dead have risen.
I was told many years ago how the “silence in heaven space of half hour” (Rev 8:1) is the interval between the end of WW1 and the start of WW2. Mathematically that is 20 years and 10 months and this interval is within 10 days. This would beg the question of whether or not Rev 7 and 8 are chronological. Having Rev 7:17 before Rev 8:1 would indicate all who are alive after 1918 would not be part of the first resurrection and basically all of humanity from this point on would have to stand in front of the throne to be judged 1000 years after the 2nd coming (which seems to fit with the Chick tracts’ theology) . It would tend to call this group “the screwed generation.” It almost makes sense and would fit in with a possibility of some surviving God’s wrath at Jesus’ 2nd coming. There are some out there proclaiming there will be no rapture based on the line of thinking being Rev 7 and 8 are chronological. If the interval holds true for Rev 8:1, then the 7th seal would be opened first, followed by 1 thru 6 (Rev 6). Rev 6:9-11 would coincide with Rev 20:4-5 and Rev 7:14-17. Rev 6:1-8 would be the battle of good and evil (aka “Armageddon”) and Rev 19:11-20 are in parallel with the end being those with the mark of the beast are cast in the lake of fire.
The hole in this line of thinking is that the Great Tribulation is an event of epic proportions. Rev 6:7-8 may or may not be a literal elimination of 1/4 of the earth’s population but on an area 1/4 of the physical area. World War I was fought in Europe, Middle East and Africa primarily and had the largest amount of casualties of any war; however, the fourth seal would most likely occur after the first resurrection and would be the fall of Babylon.
Revelation 6:7-8New International Version (NIV)
7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
Rev 6 by reading is not chronological with Rev 7; however, Rev 8 is chronological to Rev 6 because the 7th and final seal is open when the silence occurs. It would make sense that Rev 8:1 runs parallel to Rev 7; placing it at the beginning indicates the 144K are still being called and placing it at verse 9 indicates that the 144K have been selected prior to 1918. Also, the remainder of Rev 8 suggests that verse 1 is a calm before a series of tragic events.
Revelation 8:1-2New International Version (NIV)
8 When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
Revelation 7King James Version (KJV)
7 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. 5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. 6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. 7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. 8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand. 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
There still are more “dead in Christ” and those “beheaded in the name of Jesus” to come. If one looks at the chain of events since 2009, it would appear that it coincides with a 7 year tribulation with the worst being the last 3.5 years. How many Christians have been beheaded in the Middle East by ISIS lately? The gradual loss of civil rights by Christians.
Regardless of what anyone has been taught, be prepared! Pray to God and Jesus for guidance and get a personal relationship. Read your bible. Ask your minister questions. Ask yourself what YOU have to do as a human being. Ask yourself what Jesus would do in certain situations. JUST DO IT!
